Winter Emergency Relief in Bangladesh: Assisting Those in Need

The street children of Dhaka need protection this winter

‘The Prophet (saw) said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,“and he (saw) held his two fingers together to illustrate’. [Bukhari]

Abuse. Exploitation. Fear. Hunger. Every year is painful for the street children of Dhaka. Barefoot, and typically with one thin layer of clothing to their name, their only way to survive is to engage in dangerous ways to make money, and the risks grow greater in winter.

In winter, Bangladesh experiences cold snaps. Night temperatures can fall to 4 degrees, while thick fog can keep daytime highs down to 6 degrees. 300 – 500 people die each year in during the cold spell, and street children, devoid of parental care, are most at risk. We must do all we can to protect them.

Help us save lives

This winter, Human Appeal is supporting 500 vulnerable children living on the flood-prone streets of Dhaka, by providing warm winter clothing. By supporting them with appropriate clothing, we can help prevent them from restoring to negative ways to fend off the cold. Please help us to protect young lives today.
